Explore Livradois-Forez by bike!
With its varied countryside and extensive road network, Livradois-Forez offers cyclists an extremely wide selection of routes along rarely used roads.
The local topography provides for low-level routes towards the Limagne plain in the north-west, with much more mountainous routes across the Dore valley, which separates the Forez and Livradois mountain ranges.
But for a few exceptions, including St Thomas’ hill and the Sauviat dam, which have inclines of 17%, the average inclines are between 4 and 7%. However, some of these are very long (sometimes 6 to 10 km) and may last for the entire duration of the route. For your comfort, we therefore suggest you come equipped with a bike with low gears (triple chainring highly recommended)!
Our team has mapped out an extensive range of routes. You can download descriptions of these routes for free, which include the following details:
- total height ascended,
- route profile, with average inclines (percentage),
- route map,
- a description of the route based on information collected on the ground (read from bottom to top),
- tourist information and suggestions of places to visit.
